One of the biggest challenges I have is staying productive throughout the day. I am usually off to a good start in the mornings, but as the day progresses I find my productivity level slowly decreasing. I also have my "off" days where I'm not productive at all, and instead spend the entire day on my phone or laptop. Keeping up with school and work can also take up a lot time, so once that's done, it can feel easier to just lay around rather than get started on something else. After spending time with friends and colleagues, I realized this is a challenge for a lot of other people as well. So here are 3 tips to help you get jump started on your goals, and start being more productive.
1. What are you spending your time on?
This one question will put you in the position to analyze how you are using the 24 hours you get everyday. I had to ask myself this question, because I felt like I couldn't keep up with school and get everything else done. When I asked myself this question, it didn't even take me long to realize where I'm wasting my time. MY PHONE! Now, I'm not saying I don't use my phone anymore, or that I deleted all the social media apps because I didn't. What I did was I looked at how many hours of my day was spent laid down on my bed on Instagram. Once I realized I was spending hours on Instagram and other distractions, I limited those distractions by putting away my cell phone, and shifting that time to my work instead.
2. Find your drive
There are certain things that pushes you to get motivated, get out of that cozy bed in the mornings, and get stuff done. For me, its my "JUST DO IT" painting that I painted myself and placed on my wall. Whenever I wake up feeling lazy, I see it and get moving. Motivation doesn't have to be tangible thing, however, it can also be a passion for the task at hand that gets you going. Find what motivates you to complete a task, keep it in mind, and use it to push you to operate at your productive best.
3. Clearing out the cutter
I think we underestimate the power of our environment, and how much it can actually affect our productivity. One thing I find extremely important is keeping my surroundings clean and tidy, this motivates me in a strange way so I try to clean my room every morning. From time to time I go into my closet, and get rid of the clothes I don't wear or no longer fit. I get rid of books, makeup, and beauty products that just take up space, and in turn clutter my mind, preventing me from jump starting my projects. This might seem so insignificant but when you actually do it, your mind feels clearer and you feel more productive.
Accept the unaccepted and take charge of your time. These three tips will surely increase your productivity everyday, and you'll feel more than satisfied with where you time is going at the end of each day.
